Lost in Translation

Sometime languages barriers can be difficult to cross without any confusion. One who decides to speak a foreign language needs to be aware of a possible misunderstanding that might create an embarrassing situation. Since I decided to learn English, I have been experiencing some interesting and funny settings regarding translation. My first and unforgettable English translation mistake was when I received a guest who is an English professor from Boston University. I will share this magnificent moment with whoever wants be delighted and laugh a little on my account. Trying to be a perfect host, I invited my guest to watch an American movie called Hair. I was in love with this musical movie. It was the first musical movie I have seen, and it did not matter if I could understand any words. The only thing I knew was the music. I could sing it perfectly and stridently. I could assume my friend was enjoying the party by the way he laughed watching me singing. Because the lyrics still very explicit to show publicly it, I am going to excuse myself and others for sharing it.  I sang this very loud and with an emotional tone to impress my guest professor. I have I called this a masterpiece of my embarrassment. Years later, knowing much better English I still feel so ashamed of that particular time. Other embarrassments came after this one that I can related to a category of funny ways to learn English. People who know me closely are anxious to hear from me the latest embarrassment I had regarding misunderstood English. I have already enough stories to fill in a small book. From each situation I learned, something fun I have to share later on.
